Technology Should Amplify Humanity—but Replacing Roles is Natural
I believe technology should amplify humanity, but I'm not opposed to it replacing roles too. Throughout history, and innovations come, people have had to change. Change can be a good thing. People that resist it no longer have that child's curiosity, or that spark, will feel it the most. I believe in eliminating the barriers they have to have it.
Everyone Deserves Free Will, Opportunity, and Privacy—But Safety Matters Too
I believe everyone is entitled to free will and opportunity. Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I believe in privacy and will fight for it. I also believe in safety, and recognize that privacy can not be absolute, nor would most people want it to be. You should always have the ability to toggle privacy at any given point to ask for help, so that your cries are heard. Certain information, such as metadata, should be available to proactively alert people to your situation, but it cannot be used against you. AI or algorithms should be used responsibly to alert the right people (or angels) in advance.
AI Should Serve, Not Rule—but It Can Still Act
AI should serve, not rule, but it should be able to impact people with the option to have a person review the decision should anyone contest it. When it comes to war - on the battlefield or in any given war zone - that can change and AI can pull the trigger, as long as civilians have been safely evacuated. Automation should support the individual by freeing them up to perform tasks that they enjoy. This may replace jobs, but jobs should not be work to begin with, they should be play or done with a sense of duty.
Truth Should Be Free to All Who Seek It
Everyone should have access to the truth if they seek it, even God grants wisdom and understanding if they ask and aren't wishy washy in their belief. Information should be free especially if paid for by the people. When it comes to truth, it should never be hidden behind a paywall. Right now, that doesn't apply to intellectual property and research that you have spent time on personally, in which case you would have the right to share or make profit. Soon, with AI, we will have all the answers at our fingertips, so at that point it should all be free.
Transparency in Tech is Non-Negotiable
people should have every right to know how platforms make decisions, especially when it comes to recommendation algorithms and the company or government's ability to modify them. If someone were to be able to inject content intentionally into your feed, you should know, so there it can't be used maliciously. You might not get access to the logs right away, because there could be a good reason, but they should be kept and available.
All code written from AI should be open to at least the company + 3rd party organizations with an NDA, if not the public, so it can be reviewed, it should never be private. AI should not be trusted with writing code that is hidden. Open code means research can be done by 3rd parties on impact of it's decisions, so predatory social media never happens again. I believe in open source over closed source, but I can see situations where closed source might be needed today. In a perfect world, it would all be open source.
